  • Seasoned Competitor: Ready for her second Olympic appearance, Amihere brings experience and enthusiasm to Team Canada.
  • Opening Match: Team Canada, featuring Amihere, will face France in their first game on July 29.

From Dream to Olympic Reality

Laeticia Amihere, a forward for the Atlanta Dream, is making headlines again. Recently named to the 2024 Canada Women’s National Basketball Olympic Team, Amihere is setting records within her franchise and showcasing her burgeoning career on the international stage.

A Trailblazer for the Dream

This selection is particularly notable as Amihere becomes the first player from the Atlanta Dream to represent Canada in the Olympic 5-on-5 women’s basketball competition. Her teammate, Rhyne Howard, will also be at the Paris games, playing for Team USA. This marks a significant achievement for the Dream, having two players from their roster participating simultaneously in the Olympics.

> “I’m excited to go into my second Olympics with more experience under my belt,” Amihere said. “It will be the first opportunity to play in front of family for Team Canada. I’m proud to be able to represent my country, my family, and show all the hard work I’ve been putting in.”

A Young Prodigy on the World Stage

At just 22, Amihere isn’t just making up the numbers. She’s the youngest player from the Dream to compete in the Olympics, a testament to her skill and determination. Her journey with Team Canada began back in 2016 at the U16 FIBA AmeriCup, and since then, she has made 27 appearances for the national team.

The Road to Paris 2024

The anticipation for the Olympic games is building, with Team Canada set to face France on July 29. This game is not just a sporting event for Amihere; it’s a showcase of her growth and the hard work she’s put in over the years, now coming to fruition on one of the world’s largest stages.
