The Baton Passes to Cornelius Jackson

Marshall Athletics has announced a significant leadership change within the Men’s Basketball program. Associate head coach Cornelius Jackson will step up to take the reins from Dan D’Antoni, who has led the Herd for 10 successful seasons.

“This has been an inspiring decade of Marshall Basketball under the leadership of Coach D’Antoni,” said Christian Spears, Marshall’s Director of Athletics. “His commitment to Marshall is unrivaled and his legacy will be honored for years to come.”

The Legacy of Dan D’Antoni

D’Antoni’s tenure has been marked by an impressive track record, with an overall record of 177-148 and a 95-81 record in conference play. His 177 career wins place him second in Marshall’s history, only trailing the legendary Cam Henderson.

“Danny has been everything that we mean when we speak of greatness with Marshall University,” Marshall University President Brad D. Smith said. “His pride and love for Marshall have always shined through.”

The Future with Cornelius Jackson

Jackson has been part of the Thundering Herd’s journey under D’Antoni since the 2017-18 season. His understanding of the team’s dynamics and his connection with the student-athletes are expected to serve him well in his new role.

“We are confident that Coach Jackson will continue using the vast knowledge gained under Coach D’Antoni while maintaining the sincere connection to the student-athletes,” Spears said.
